Teenage woman escapes arson attack

A teenage woman has been treated for shock after her home was set alight by arsonists.

The 18-year-old had to escape her Ballycraigy Gardens home in Newtownabbey after a flammable liquid was poured through the letter box at around 3.30pm on Sunday.

Fire damage was caused to a hall while smoke damage affected the remainder of the house.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the attack but believe it not to be sectarian.

B&Q store damaged in arson attack
B&Q's Newtownabbey store has been damaged in an arson attack. The store sustained smoke and water damage following a small blaze caused by an incendiary-type device left in a timber section of the store. It is reported that a number of people were working in the store at the time the device exploded. No-one was injured.

Belfast primary school targeted in arson attack
More than 100 primary six and primary seven pupils at a Belfast school have been told not to attend school after an arson attack at the weekend damaged classrooms. In all three classrooms at St Anne’s primary school in Dunmurry were destroyed in a fire causing damage estimated at a quarter of a million pounds.

House Damaged In Petrol Bomb attack
A house in Larne has been damaged in a petrol bomb attack, according to police. It happened on Church Way at around 10.30pm on Wednesday. A man was in the house at the time but was unhurt. Minor damage was caused to the property and a window was smashed. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Another Man Arrested Over Attack On Gerry Adams' Home
Another man has been arrested in connection with the attacks on the homes of former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams and prominent republican Bobby Storey in west Belfast. Industrial fireworks were thrown at the properties on Friday, 13 July, and damage was caused to Mr Adams' car.

Arson attack on Castlereagh home
A family have escaped injury following an arson attack on their east Belfast home in the early hours of this morning. The man, his 12-year-old daughter and his seven-year-old son, were asleep in their home in the Clonduff estate in Castlereagh at around 3.30am, when they were awoken by a smoke alarm.
