Possible Flooding As Heavy Wind And Rain To Batter NI This Weekend
The Met Office has warned of possible flooding for some homes and businesses in Northern Ireland this weekend, with wind and rain set to hammer the province.
A yellow weather warning will be in place from 6am on Saturday 15th December until 6pm that evening.
Between 30 and 50mm of rain is set to drench the region over the 12 hour period, which accounts for a third of all downpours forecast for the month of December.
Gusts of up to 60mph are also anticipated.
The Met Office said the conditions may result in the following:
• Likely delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.
• Possible flooding of some homes and businesses.
• Spray and flooding on roads causing increased journey times.
• Some short term losses of power and other services.
Those planning to attend festive events across the region are advised to monitor the weather conditions and check for any cancellations.
Areas expected to be most affected by the stormy weather are the south and east.
More severe weather conditions are set to hit other parts of the UK, with amber warnings for snow and ice in place for large parts of Scotland and the north of England.
