High Value Items Taken In County Down Burglary
Police are appealing for information after highly valuable items were taken during a burglary of a County Down hardware store.
Detectives said two men broke into the Francis Watson hardware store in Cloughey in the early hours of Sunday morning, 06 January.
It is believed the thieves then made off in a car.
Constable Johnson said: "The burglary at commercial premises in The Square area was reported to us at 1.50am. It was reported that a Jefferson Olympus 3.8kva petrol generator and a Honda high spec petrol generator were stolen.
"It's believed entry to the premises was gained around 1.05am yesterday.
"I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw any suspicious activity, or any suspicious vehicles, or who is offered tools for sale similar to those reported stolen to get in touch."
Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to call police in Newtownards on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 120 of 06/01/19.
Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is fully anonymous.
Belfast Giants Beat Sheffield Twice In One Weekend
It was a triumphant weekend for the Belfast Giants as they managed to secure two wins in their Elite League games against the Sheffield Steelers.
Despite needing overtime to achieve success on Saturday 05 December, giving Sheffield one point to take home from their trip, they held strong for a relegation win on Sunday and ended the weekend with four points.
The hosts also marked the return to action of all-time leading scorer Colin Shields after a period of injury.
Mr Shields became the club's most prolific player on Saturday with his 585th game, overtaking the record set by Belfast-born player Graeme Walton.
Saturday's match ended 5-4 to Belfast, after the Steelers initially took the lead and fought hard to defend against captain Blair Riley and his team.
The second encounter was a bit more drama filled, with the sides battling it out into the second period and Belfast struggling to secure the resulting 4-3 win.
Adam Keefe's team are back in action next weekend when Belfast hosts the European Continental Cup final at The SSE Arena.
Denis Sulta Belfast Show Announced For Custom House Square
Scottish DJ Denis Sulta is set to return to Belfast for a headline show at Custom House Square.
It follows his sold out Boxing Night gig at the Telegraph building.
He will perform again in Belfast on Thursday 08 August, along with special guests including Sally C, Bug Miz B2B Kettama and Marie Davidson.
The show is for those aged 16 and over, with tickets priced at £30.
Booking fees also apply and the gig goes on sale on Friday 11 January at 10am from Ticketmaster Outlets nationwide.

Two men taken to hospital after weekend attack
Police in County Antrim have appealed for information after two men were taken to hospital after being attacked at the weekend. The incident happened in the Coast Road area of Cushendall at around 2.30am on Sunday.

Three Schools Burgled In Downpatrick
Police in Downpatrick are investigating three schools which were broken into over the bank holiday weekend. Damage was caused to three schools in the Saul Street and Old Belfast Road areas. Lead was stolen from roofs of two of the schools, while power tools and a television was taken from a workshop at the third school.

Tall Ships Return Sought
Belfast is set to build on the success of last weekend's Tall Ships extravaganza, to ensure that the event returns to the city in the near future. Over the four days of the Belfast Maritime Festival, an estimated 800,000 people – the equivalent of half the population of Northern Ireland - saw the 40 magnificent sailing vessels.
