HMV Belfast Survives Company Takeover
HMV's Belfast store in Donegall Arcade has been saved following a company takeover by Canadian retailer Sunrise Records.
Sunrise bought the company out of administration, and announced plans to close 27 of the outlet's 127 UK stores.
The 27 stores, which include London's flagship Oxford Street shop, will close with immediate effect.
The Belfast store will continue trading.
HMV went into administration just after Christmas last year, marking the second time the company has collapsed in recent years.

Good year for Tesco as profits top £1.6bn
It has been a good year for the supermarket retailer Tesco which has seen pre-tax profits soar to £1.6 billion, according to the group's full-year preliminary statement issued today. In addition to driving up pre-tax margins by 17.6%, the company said that it had slashed its debts by £600 million, down to £4.1 billion. In the UK, sales grew by 14.

Revitalised Marks & Spencer stores reopen
Marks & Spencer have reopened the doors of their Buttercrane Shopping Centre in Newry and Forestside Shopping Centre in Newtownbreda. Following completion work, estimated to have cost over £1.5 million, the stores represent two of three outlets in Northern Ireland due for a ‘renewal programme' this year.

Jessops set to open new store in Ballymena
Leading specialist photographic retailer, Jessops is to invest an estimated £10 million in opening a further 40 stores over the next twelve months, creating up to 400 new jobs. Ten of these jobs will be created in Ballymena as the company plans to open a new store at Tower Centre in the town.
