Invest NI Chief Executive Alastair Hamilton Announces Resignation

Alastair Hamilton, the chief executive of Invest NI, has announced his resignation, following 10 years at the head of the business development organisation.

According to reports, Mr Hamilton said that it had been "an honour and a privilege" to serve in such a "significant role".

Mr Hamilton will stand down later this year but was making the announcement now to "allow time to advertise and fill the role … and facilitate a timely transition for the Invest NI Board".

Witnesses Sought To Serious Collision In Co Antrim

An investigation has been launched following a serious road traffic collision in Co Antrim.

A man is said to have suffered "serious injuries" in a one-vehicle collision at approximately 6.35am this morning, 28 February, on the Ballymacombs Road in Portglenone.

Police appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 169 of 28/02/19.

Two NI Fishing Boats Impounded By Irish Navy

The Irish Navy have reportedly impounded two Northern Irish fishing boats.

According to reports, the boats were detained in Dundalk Bay for alleged breaches of fishing regulations. It is claimed that the action "follows the collapse of a gentleman's agreement allowing vessels from NI and the Republic reciprocal access to each other's inshore waters".

It is understood that the UK government is investigating justification for the action.

Police have renewed their appeal for information in connection with a fatal collision in Banbridge, Co Down. Gary Hamilton, aged 27, was killed on the Castlewellan Road when his motorbike was involved in a crash at around 9.45am on Sunday, 08 July.

Foster To Lead Trade Delegation To India
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster is to lead Northern Ireland's trade and investment mission to India at the end of September. The Minister's participation was announced during a visit to Polaris Software, one of India's leading software companies and one of four existing Indian inward investors in Northern Ireland.

Road Users Urged To Take More Care Following Serious Incidents
Police in Ards and North Down are appealing for all road users to take more care following two serious incidents on Monday 15 June. A multiple car collision occurred on the Ballyblack Road in Ards and a number of people had to be cut from their vehicles. In a separate incident, a young boy was hit by a vehicle on the High Bangor Road in Donaghadee.

PSNI Memorial Garden Officially Opens
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have officially opened the PSNI's Memorial Garden in Belfast. The Royals also unveiled the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Book of Remembrance, at Brooklyn, Police Headquarters.

Police Launch Appeal To Trace Nurse Who Helped At Scene Of Fatal Collision
Police have launched an appeal to trace a nurse who helped at the scene of a fatal road crash in Co Tyrone in July. A man in his 20s died after a silver Peugeot he was travelling in hit a bridge on Longland Road in Donemana at approximately 7.20am on Friday, 22 July.
