Police Appeal After 'Vicious & Unprovoked' Attack

Detectives investigating an attack on a 60-year-old man over the weekend have appealed to the public for help identifying the gang responsible.

The victim was subject to the "vicious and unprovoked" attack in the area of McGurk's Way and Lancaster Street in north Belfast in the early hours of Saturday morning, 06 April.

His injuries, including a nasty laceration to his eye, required hospital treatment.

Police are hunting a group of three to four males and one female, who is described as around 5'2" with blonde hair.

Anyone with information, or who thinks they saw anything suspicious shortly before 2am on Saturday morning is urged to call 101 quoting serial 123 of 06/04/2019.

Man Struck With Hammer In 'Vicious Assault'
A man has been hospitalised after he was struck on the head with a hammer during a "vicious assault" in County Antrim. A gang of males forced entry to a home in the Kellburn Park area of Ballyclare in the early hours of this morning, Friday 23 August. Police are treating the incident as a paramilitary style attack.

A number of redeveloped Derry apartments have been left in ruins after being struck by an early morning blaze yesterday. The newly renovated homes are believed to have been the victim of an arson attack. Fire crew battled with the fire at the four-story building on Crawford Street after midnight.

Man Shot In Co L'Derry
A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".

Police are treating a fire at a recreation centre in County Down as malicious. The incident happened at a football club in the Langley Road area of Ballynahinch just before 3am this morning.

Spanish police arrest IRA bombing suspect
Spanish police have arrested a man in connection with the bombing of an army barracks in Lisburn eight years ago. Michael Gerard Rogan, 44, from Easton Avenue in north Belfast, was arrested in the holiday resort of Playa de las Americas in Tenerife on Monday.
