Drugs Seized & One Arrested After Car Chase

Police have released details of an incident on Sunday 31 March which resulted in a member of the public being injured, one person arrested and suspected drugs seized.

The situation arose when officers from the PSNI's Auto Crime Team spotted a suspicious looking vehicle travelling along Divis Street in west Belfast. After the driver failed to stop, a pursuit commenced along the Falls Road.

The vehicle in question then collided with another car and caused injury to an unsuspecting member of the public.

Police said the offending driver was later arrested for driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop.

A small amount of drugs were also recovered from the vehicle.

Officers said the fact that no one was seriously injured was "sheer luck" and have encouraged the public to report any suspicious vehicles or incidents of carelessness and dangerous driving.
