Two Arrested Following Car Theft And Dangerous Driving In Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with a car theft and dangerous driving incident in south Belfast.
The incident began on Tuesday evening when a brown Range Rover Evoque was stolen from a public car park in the Ratcliffe Street area. The vehicle's owner discovered the theft upon returning to the parking lot around 10:30pm.
Separately, police received reports of a vehicle being driven recklessly in the Stewartstown Road area. Just after 11:00pm, officers spotted the vehicle in the Falls Road area and initiated a pursuit. Trained officers from the Interceptor team successfully stopped the vehicle. Two men, both in their twenties, were arrested at the scene. A 22-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, driving under the influence, and associated driving offences. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and possession of a controlled substance. Both individuals remain in police custody.
Chief Inspector Mark Conway said: "This was fantastic team work by our officers, and we are grateful that we were able to stop this vehicle before further damage or injury could be caused .
"Our enquiries are ongoing. We would appeal to anyone who may have seen this distinctive vehicle in the south or west Belfast areas between 6.00 and 11.00pm last night, to contact police.
"The number to call is 101, quoting reference 1704 22/10/24."

A man has been arrested for a number of offences, including "Death Driving", in west Belfast. A vehicle was reported stolen following a burglary in east Belfast just after midnight. It was later reported that the vehicle was involved in what police have described as "Death Driving" in the Falls Road area.

Two police officers have been injured after a stolen car crashed into their vehicle in west Belfast.
