Youths Admit To Causing Fire At Belfast Play Park
Two young people aged 11 and 13 have admitted to damaging equipment at Avoniel Play Park in east Belfast.
The children were spoken to in the presence of their parents and admitted to being behind the incident which occurred earlier this week. They have both now been referred to the Youth Diversion Officer.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Thanks to your help, we have identified and spoken to two youths aged 11 and 13 years of age in the presence of their (understandably furious) parents, who have admitted responsibility for the damage to equipment at Avoneil playpark in East Belfast earlier this week. Both young people will now be the subject of a report to the Youth Diversion Officer.
"This incident once again reinforces our regular appeals for parent and guardians to know where their children are and what they are doing. It's also critically important to speak to children to ensure they understand that what might seem like fooling about can sometimes get out of hand."
The popular play area was set alight on Monday 15 April and will be closed for "some time" for repairs.

Two men shot in paramilitary style attacks in west Belfast
Two men have been shot in the ankles in separate paramilitary-style attacks in west Belfast. The first man was shot in both ankles around 8.30pm in Norglen Parade on Wednesday night and was treated in hospital. The second attack happened in Vere Foster Walk around 10.40pm and the man was also shot in both ankles and sent to hospital for treatment.

Four Men Admit Involvement In Fatal Portstewart Fight
Four men have admitted being involved in a fight outside a nightclub that resulted in the death of man in his 20s and the injury of another man. Trevor Spiers, 28, died of brain injuries after a fight broke out outside Shenanigans' in Portstewart on 3 December, 2009.
