PM Theresa May To Attend Lyra McKee's Funeral

Prime Minister Theresa May is to be in Belfast today to attend the funeral of murdered journalist Lyra McKee.

Ms McKee was shot dead while reporting on riots in the Creggan area of L'Derry last Thursday, 18 April.

Dissident republican organisation the New IRA has accepted responsibility for her death.

Along with Mrs May, the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will attend the funeral at St Anne's Cathedral. Political representatives from across Northern Ireland will also pay their respects.

There will be a gathering at Guildhall Square in L'Derry for those who cannot attend the funeral.
