Young Girl Struck By Vehicle In Co Down
A young girl has suffered injuries after she was struck by a passing vehicle that failed to stop in Co Down.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision on Market Street, Downpatrick at around 5.30pm on Thursday 07 November.
The young female was using the pedestrian crossing outside the bus station when a white vehicle failed to stop and collided with her, resulting in a hip injury.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Unfortunately the vehicle did not stop to even check if this girl was ok, and made off.
"We believe we have some details of the driver- male, aged somewhere between 30-40yrs and he drove in the direction of the town centre.
"We will be following up with CCTV but if you witnessed this or could provide any further details please contact us on 101, the serial number is 1426 of 07/11/2019."
Motorists are reminded that if they are involved in a road traffic collision they must stop, remain at the scene and report the incident. While police may not always attend depending on the circumstances, the spokesperson reiterated that collisions must be reported.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after two officers sustained injuries when a vehicle they attempted to stop collided with their patrol car in the early hours of Sunday 01 October on the Concession Road, Crossmaglen. Police in west Belfast have arrested a man following the stop and search of a vehicle on Monday, 4 August. Chief Inspector Pete Cunningham said that District Support Team officers were on patrol in the Stewartstown Road area shortly after 8.05pm when they observed a vehicle being driven erratically.
