Police Seek Information Following Mourne Mountain Blaze
Police are continuing to appeal for information following a large-scale blaze in Newcastle at the foot of the Mourne Mountains on Sunday 21 April.
More than 50 firefighters tackled the fire throughout the night, with guests at the nearby Bonnys Caravan Park and residents living on the Tullybrannigan Road evacuated.
The fire front was a mile long and spread rapidly due to high winds. It was brought under control on Monday afternoon and a later assessment by the Northern Ireland Fire and rescue Service (NIFRS) determined that it had likely been started deliberately.
Detective Chief Inspector Will Tate appealed to the public to assist with the investigation by passing on any suspicious sightings or useful information by calling 101 quoting reference number 1407 of 21/4/19.

Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

Fire crews deal with separate fires in Co Antrim
Police are appealing for information following two suspicious fires in Co Antrim in the early hours of Friday morning. The first fire was discovered at a factory unit in north Belfast at around 12 midnight. It is believed the blaze started when paper inside the unit was set alight. Some windows and two other units were damaged in the fire.

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a serious arson attack in the Clon Dara area of L'Derry on Saturday, 23 November. Shortly before 8.20pm, police received a report that an accelerant had been used to ignite the front door and letterbox of a house in the area.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
