105-year-old woman forced from home following attack

Police are appealing for information after a 105-year-old woman was forced from her home last night in what police suspect may have been a sectarian attack.

The woman was sleeping in a downstairs room, which has been converted into a bedroom, when four bricks were used to smash two windows at the property in the Oldpark area of north Belfast.

The woman's grandson said she had been hit by debris and was very badly shaken following the incident.

She was immediately taken to hospital and later transferred to a residential home.

The elderly woman's home was just one of a number of houses targeted in the area on Wednesday.

Another property across the road was hit by both bricks and paint bombs at around the same time, however no one was injured in the incients which began at around 7pm.
