SSE Airtricity Joins Fight Against Homelessness
Northern Ireland's leading homeless charity The Simon Community is set for a boost as part of a three-year partnership with leading energy provider SSE Airtricity.
The company will work with the charity's operations across the island of Ireland to raise vital funds for its services of care, support and accommodation for people affected by homelessness.
SSE Airtricity employees will also be able to provide active support for the charity through the company's 'Be the Difference' programme, which allows all team members to take time away from their usual jobs to volunteer for good causes.
The Simon Community delivers support and service to a total of over 16,000 individuals and families in Northern Ireland and Ireland who experience - or are at risk of - homelessness on an annual basis

£17m To Support Pensioners Affected By Winter Fuel Payment Changes
Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has announced a £17 million fund to support pensioners who have lost eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment due to recent UK government changes. The one-off £100 payment will be automatically issued to an estimated 250,000 pensioners in around 170,000 households before the end of March 2025.

SSE Airtricity Announces Gas Price Rise
More than 140,000 SSE Airtricity customers are to see a 7% rise in their monthly gas bill from the end of March. The company has said that the price increase is a result of "sustained increases in global wholesale gas costs which have risen by over 50% in the last 12 months". The average household gas bill is expected to increase £36 a year.
