Arrests As £640k Cannabis Discovered
Three men have been arrested after police discovered drugs worth an estimated £640,000 during searches in Armagh.
Detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch searched a house on the Newry Road on Thursday 23 May and discovered the significant haul of herbal cannabis.
Three occupants of the house were arrested for an array of drugs offences. Two men aged 44 and a man aged 42 were later charged and are due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on Saturday 25 May.
A police spokesperson said: "This is a serious amount of drugs, with an estimated street value of £640,000 now out of criminal hands, and in evidence bags. To those who would say its 'just a plant', reflect on this:
"That's nearly £2/3 of a million of potential criminal cash out of circulation. That's nearly £2/3 of a million of potential fire arms and other weapons, gone. That's nearly £2/3 of a million of funding for human trafficking, extortion, and even terrorism which so often is found at the top of serious organised crime chains...all out of reach of criminals.
"If you know anything about drug dealing or any serious organised crime in your area, you can call 101, PM the page, or speak completely anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
