£260,000 Worth Of Cannabis Seized In Belfast Searches
Cannabis with a potential street value of £260,000 has been seized in an organized PSNI search operation across Belfast on Tuesday, 17 October.
Detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Unit based in Belfast, assisted by members of the Tactical Support Group, conducted searches at four premises across Belfast.
The searches were in relation to ongoing investigations into the supply of controlled drugs by an organised criminal network. During the searches cannabis worth £260,000 was seized and approximately £10,000 cash. A 29-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman have been arrested and are currently being interviewed by detectives.
Detective Inspector Kelly stated: "(The) searches and arrests relate to an ongoing investigation into criminality being conducted by a network of persons. This criminal network are involved in various crime types including the supply of controlled drugs to a number of other criminal and paramilitary gangs operating across Northern Ireland. Proceeds of this criminality only serves to fund their lifestyles and their hold over the community. My officers remain committed to tackling the organised criminal activities of these gangs and to put drug suppliers before the courts.
"I would ask if anyone has any information about suspected drug dealing in their area to call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can also be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
