Appeal Issued For Missing West Belfast Teenager
The PSNI in West Belfast have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of Adam Baxter.
The teenager is believed to be in the Twinbrook area of West Belfast and if anyone has had contact with him they are urged to contact police on 101.
Newry Resurfacing Scheme To Start On 17 June
A major carriageway resurfacing scheme on Stream Street in Newry will commence on Monday 17 June 2019.
The resurfacing work will extend from the Stream Street junction with Cowan Street to the junction with Church Street. The footpaths adjacent to the residential homes in Stream Street will be included in the resurfacing programme.
The £95,000 scheme will deliver significant improvements to both the structural integrity and surface of the road.
Due to the nature of the scheme it will be necessary to operate a daily weekday road closure (Mon – Fri) between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm from Monday 17 June until Friday 5 July. During these times a diversion will be in place via Cowan Street and Church Street and vice versa. The road will be open to traffic in the evenings during the week and all day Saturday and Sunday.
In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling through, or in the vicinity, of the works.
The Department has programmed the work and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when planning any journeys.
Work is expected to be completed by 5 July however this will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions.
Recruitment Competition Launched For New NISAR Chairperson
A recruitment competition to find a new Independent Chairperson for the Northern Ireland Search and Rescue (NISAR) Practitioners Group has been launched by the Department of Justice.
The NISAR Practitioners Group represents those involved in the provision of front-line search and rescue services and includes representatives from a wide range of voluntary and statutory organisations. It is led by an independent chair who is also be responsible for representing the Practitioners Group at meetings of the NISAR Policy Group. The Policy Group comprises those with a strategic interest in Search and Rescue and is chaired by the Department of Justice. The NISAR Practitioners Group has responsibility for advising the NISAR Policy Group on all operational search and rescue issues.
The Independent Chairperson position is not remunerated and is for a fixed term of three years with the option of reappointment for a further three years. The Department of Justice will pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.
The closing date for applications is noon on Thursday 4th July 2019. Interviews will be held in mid-August. The appointment is expected to be made in September 2019.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.

Work Starts On Road Improvement Projects In Co Armagh
Contractors have started work on £170,000 road improvement projects in Tandragee, Co Armagh. The schemes are taking place at Irish Street Richhill and Gilford Street. They involve the resurfacing of 1km of roads and where appropriate the reinstatement of footways and verges. To facilitate the schemes, temporary road closures will be in place.

The Department for Regional Development will start work on a number of junction improvements in Belfast city centre next week. The improvements on Grosvenor Road/Durham Street and Hope Street/Great Victoria Street are part of the Belfast On The Move Transport Masterplan which will give higher priority to public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.
