L'Derry Raids As Police Probe INLA Activity
Police investigating INLA activity have seized a number of items during six searches in L'Derry.
Supported by HMRC officers, the PSNI's Organised Crime Unit recovered various items during four of the raids in the Galliagh and Shantallow areas, including counterfeit clothing, mobile phones, computers and documentation as well as £16,000 in cash.
Detective Inspector Tom McClure said: "INLA in Derry/Londonderry claim to be protecting their communities from crime however in reality they themselves are heavily involved in a wide range of criminal money-making 'rackets' including extortion, supply of controlled drugs, counterfeit goods and money laundering. They bring harm and misery to people in the local area and whilst people who buy counterfeit goods may think this is a victimless crime, ultimately the profits of these items are indirectly funding INLA's other criminality including dealing harmful drugs which destroy local families.
"Today's operation demonstrates our commitment to bringing those involved in the criminality associated with Paramilitarism before the courts and we know that the communities most affected by INLA's drug dealing and violence support our ongoing efforts."
Anyone with information regarding criminality by paramilitary organisations is urged to contact police on 101. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man Arrested Over INLA Drug Activity
Detectives investigating drug activities within the INLA paramilitary group have made an arrest. The 33 year-old suspect was detained following a search in west Belfast on Tuesday evening, 10 March, during which a quantity of class B and C drugs were seized. A substantial sum of money and the drug pregabalin were also discovered.

Searches of seven shops in the city uncovered almost 30,000 cigarettes and 20 kilograms of tobacco, along with other counterfeit goods and mobile phones.
