Two Arrested In Pat McCormick Murder Probe
Police investigating the disappearance and murder of Pat McCormick have arrested two men on suspicion of murder.
The suspects, aged 20 and 32, were arrested in Moneyreagh and Ballygowan respectively this morning, Friday 05 July.
Police say land and water based searches are continuing in both areas, over five weeks since the 55-year-old disappeared. Specialist victim recovery dogs and an underwater search team have been deployed.
Pat's case was initially treated as a missing person enquiry but was promptly changed to a murder investigation after police reviewed the evidence.
A reward of £10,000 that was offered by Crimestoppers for information that may lead to the discovery of the body remains in place.
Detectives believe the father-of-four was murdered in or around the vicinity of flats in Castle Street, Comber after 10.45pm on Thursday 30 may. Pat was captured walking in the area on CCTV, disappearing under an archway that leads to some flats. No footage has been found to show him leaving.
Police are appealing for anyone with information on a blue Ford Transit van which was spotted on the Old Ballygown Road in Comber at around 2am on Friday 31 May to come forward.
