Forensic Science Opportunity For Local Innovators
Up to four local innovative business suppliers can soon make use of an opportunity to work with Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI).
FSNI provides scientific services and expertise to assist in the investigation of crime and the presentation of scientific evidence in court. It carries out primary evidence recovery from items such as bodily fluids, DNA, fingerprints, hairs, fibres, gunshot and explosive residue- all important elements in the forensic process that can often be crucial to solving cases.
The agency, which operates within the Department of Justice, has been awarded £155,000 of Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) funding to work with up to four suppliers developing innovative techniques and solutions to speed up the process of visualising and identifying bodily fluids on a range of substrates within a forensic science environment.
Local innovative businesses are invited to tender for the opportunity, with applications to be submitted by 3pm on Friday 16 August.
A free information event led by FSNI staff has been arranged for Thursday 25 July, from 10.30am- 1pm, at Ormeau Baths, Ormeau Avenue.
An application form, guidance and competition brief can be accessed online.
