Drink-Drive Tip-Off Secures Arrest
A drink driver who was almost three times over the legal limit has been arrested following a tip-off from members of the public in Bangor, County Down.
The incident on Sunday evening, 28 July, saw a motorist report their suspicions that the driver of another car had been drinking.
A PSNI spokesperson explained: "They kept an eye on it and managed to quickly direct one of our patrols to get it stopped just as it was going onto the main A2 carriageway. Could you imagine the consequences of somebody driving on that fast road and turning out they were nearly 3 times over the limit.
"That driver is now on the way to the cells - our roads are safer now because of the actions of this alert member of public calling in.
"The driver will receive no sympathy and I look forward to the court taking their licence away."
Anyone with suspicions of drink drivers in their area can contact police on 101, or by calling 999 in the case of an emergency.
