Arrest As Cannabis Factory Discovered In Lisburn
Police have made an arrest after cannabis worth £90,000 was seized in Lisburn.
Around 170 suspected cannabis plants and 1.5kgs of harvested cannabis were seized during a proactive policing operation by officers from Lisburn District Support Team on Wednesday 23 October.
A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply. He was released on bail pending further enquiries.
Inspector Paul McGrattan said: "This arrest and seizure is part of our ongoing commitment to removing and disrupting the illegal supply of drugs in Northern Ireland.
"We are committed to making Northern Ireland a hostile environment for those in our community who are involved in the drugs trade and anyone involved in the drugs trade, or anyone tempted to become involved should be under no illusion - we will seek to identify them, arrest them and place them before the courts."
Police renewed their appeal to anyone with information or concerns around the supply of drugs in their community to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Many Arrests In Gardaí Drugs Raids
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and 'crack' cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

NI Drug Deaths Double
The number of drug related deaths registered each year has more than doubled over the last decade rising from 39 deaths in 1997 to 86 last year. The 86 fatalities were registered in Northern Ireland where the cause of death was drug related, either due to legal or illegal drugs.
