Police Hunt Car Involved In Theft Attempt

Police are hunting a car believed to be involved in a failed theft attempt in Ballyclare, Co Antrim.

The incident, involving a black coloured Vauxhall Vectra, prompted officers to urge people with outbuildings storing valuable possessions to prioritise their security.

The outhouses of a property in the Springvale Road area of Ballyclare were targeted shortly before 2am on Thursday morning, 14 November.

Detectives said the would-be thieves fled the scene empty handed. They are now hunting the vehicle, registration ULZ 3545.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Do you know anything about this car? Have you spotted it recently? Could you have it on CCTV? Do you own it?!"

Anyone with information can contact investigating officers on 101 quoting reference 79 of 14/11/19 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they prefer to remain anonymous.

Urging those with outbuildings on their property to remain vigilant, the officer continued: "As a reminder, if you have outbuildings that store valuable possessions or have doors that lead to your house, please take appropriate steps to secure your property.

"If you see someone acting suspiciously, please note down any important details such as a description or car registration and contact police. We will follow up on your call and there is every possibility that your information could prevent a crime."
