Carrickfergus Murder Victim Named As Glen Quinn
Police have confirmed the identity of a man murdered in Carrickfergus last weekend as 47 year-old Glen Quinn.
It's now known that Mr Quinn was the victim of an attack and sustained blunt force trauma that resulted in his death.
Appealing for information, investigation lead Detective Superintendent Jason Murphy called for an end to "unhelpful" rumour and speculation surrounding the murder.
A friend of Mr Quinn reported a concern for his safety on Saturday 04 January, prompting police officers to force entry to his Ashleigh Park flat, where he lay dead.
Two men and a woman arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday 06 January have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Meanwhile, it's also been revealed that Glen was assaulted on 29 December and while he wasn't badly injured, was left frightened. Detectives are working to establish a motive for the murder and whether any link is present between the assault and his death.
DS Murphy said: "Glen was well-known throughout Carrickfergus and had no known enemies and no reason that we are aware of for anyone to cause him harm.
"We are aware rumours are circulating regarding the involvement of the South East Antrim UDA in the killing. In this type of investigation, rumour and speculation are unhelpful. They have the possibility to raise tensions and put others at risk. We want to carry out a sound investigation, not confused by rumour or gossip, and I would encourage people to speak to us directly and tell us what they know so we can establish what the facts are."
Police are particularly keen to speak to the following people:
• Anyone who has been in contact with Glen since Christmas Day and to whom he had revealed any concerns.
• Anyone who might be able to shed light on the motive for Glen's murder or those responsible for it.
• Anyone who was in Ashleigh Park on Friday 03 January, from midday until 10pm, in particular witnesses who saw or captured anything suspicious on a dashcam or mobile phone.
• Anyone who witnessed the assault on Glen on 29 December.

Police investigating the "violent and unprovoked" murder of Carrickfergus man Glen Quinn have renewed their appeal for information. Officers released CCTV images of the 47 year-old in the days before his death in the hope of jogging someone's memory. Mr Quinn has been described as a vulnerable man who was "not in the best of health".
