Uninsured Driver Takes Off After Collision

An uninsured driver narrowly avoided a collision with a police vehicle before crashing in Dungannon and fleeing his vehicle, it has emerged.

Officers are appealing for information after the incident on Thursday evening, 02 January.

A "large bag" of suspected Class A drugs and a knife were discovered in the red-coloured vehicle after it was driven dangerously along the busy Newell Road.

A PSNI spokesperson explained: "On Thursday night just past the driver of this car decided to drive dangerously and at speed along the busy Newell Road. Unfortunately for him he drove straight past and nearly collided with one of our TSG (Tactical Support Group) crews working in the area. He then ran out of talent and crashed just past the roundabout.

"With having no insurance for the car he assumed it was a smart idea to leave the car and save himself, however, he forgot to take the rather large bag of suspected Class A drugs and knife with him! Oops!

"These have all been seized for examination and subsequent disposal as was the car."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any relevant information is urged to contact police on 101 or via private message on Facebook quoting reference CCS 1997 of the 02/01/2020.
