Storm Brendan Brings High Winds To NI

Northern Ireland is bracing itself today as Storm Brendan brings strong gales to the region.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning from 10am until midnight, with winds expected to pick up early this afternoon.

Storm Brendan hit the west coast of Ireland this morning, Monday 13 January, with Met Éireann warning of several hours of dangerous weather.

Gusts of up to 75mph can be expected on exposed coasts and hills.

The Met Office also warned of likely travel disruption, with some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport as well as local bus and train services.

Coastal routes and seafront communities may experience spray, large waves and extra surface water, with short term power outages also possible.

Met Office Issues Amber Weather Warning
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Northern Ireland as Storm Isha is set to hit this weekend. On Sunday, 21 January, a wind alert will come into force at 6pm and will remain in place until 9am on Monday, 22 January. A separate yellow weather warning has been put in place between noon on Sunday and noon on Monday.

Severe Weather Warning Issued
A Status Yellow severe weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office as Storm Ciara makes its way to the UK. The weather system is currently developing in the North Atlantic and is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain through the end of the weekend and into the start of next week.

Storm Kathleen Warning: Gusts Of Up 70mph Forecast
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for "potentially damaging and disruptive winds" across Northern Ireland on Saturday, 06 April. Named by Met Éireann as Storm Kathleen, it is the 11th named storm to date this year.
