Youths attack police in west Belfast
Police are appealing for information after officers were attack by around 100 youths in west Belfast yesterday evening.
The incident occurred in the Albert Street area of the Falls Road at around 6.30pm following reports of dangerous driving.
When officers arrived a gang of around 70 youths began throwing stones and other missiles at police.
Within an hour the situation had calmed slightly, however when police were alerted to another vehicle acting suspiciously in the area, the crowd, which had grown to a 100, began pelting police vehicles with bricks and stones.
The situation was again eventually calmed, however three police vehicles, including two Land Rovers, were extensively damaged during the attacks.
No officers were injured in either incident.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Dissident republicans have been blamed for a bomb attack on a police vehicle in the Creggan Heights area of L'Derry on Sunday evening. Chief Inspector Alan Hutton said: "At this stage we can confirm that an explosive device has caused damage to the rear door of a police vehicle.
