Suspect Due In Court Over £200k Drug Find

A 27 year-old is due in court charged with drug related offences after substances worth an estimated £200,000 were seized in Belfast.

The suspect will appear at a sitting of Belfast Magistrates Court today, Thursday 13 February, on suspicion of offences including being concerned in an offer to supply class A controlled drugs and possession of a class B substance with intent to supply.

It follows the seizure of a class B drug worth around £40k on the Beersbridge Road in east Belfast. A further £160k worth of drugs was subsequently recovered in the Rugby Parade area.

The seizures were carried out on Wednesday 12 February.

All charges are to be reviewed by the PPS, as is normal procedure.

Man Charged With Several Drugs Offences In Co Down
A 20-year-old man has been charged with a number of drugs offences in Newtownards, Co Down. Police seized a quantity of suspected class A drugs, estimated to be worth approximately £3,000, and a quantity of suspected class B drugs, estimated to be worth approximately £5,000, during a planned search in the Westwinds area on Monday, 13 June.

Two Men Arrested In Connection With Large Drug Seizure
Two men have been arrested in connection with a large drug seizure following two Paramilitary Crime Task Force operations. Officers seized large quantities of suspected class A drugs, worth an estimated £180,000, during two separate search operations – a property search in Ballybeen, Dundonald, and a vehicle stop and search on the M1 near Moira.

Belfast Hit By 10 Drug-Related Deaths In December
The last month has seen 10 suspected drug-related deaths in the greater Belfast area, sparking concern across the community. PSNI Detective Superintendent Bobby Singleton said while the cause of death is not definitively known, the use of illicit or prescription drugs may have been a factor.
