Thousands Participate In Belfast City Marathon
Thousands of people participated in the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon on Sunday, 03 October.
The events included the marathon, team-relay, eight-mile walk and the fun run which all began at Stormont and finished at the Ormeau Park.
Michael Clohisey of Raheny Shamrock A.C. was the winner of the marathon with a time of 2:20:42, followed by 2019 NI and Ulster Champion, Kyle Doherty in a time of 2:22:48 and third place was Colin Heron of Keep Er Lit, in a time of 2:27:25.
Fionnuala Ross (Armagh AC) came in first in the women's marathon with a time of 2:43:42. In second place, Ciara Hickey of Brothers Pearse A.C with a time of 2:44:40. Gladys Ganiel (2014 Commonwealth Games athlete; 2018 European Marathon Championships Team Ireland member) of North Belfast Harriers was third in a time of 2:45:03.
Karol Doherty won the wheelchair race in a time of 2:47:06.

The 2023 Belfast City Marathon and Half Marathon, sponsored by Mash Direct, has been officially launched by Lord Mayor Tina Black at Better's Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre. 2023 will mark the 41st year of Belfast City Marathon, which has become one of the leading marathons in the UK and Ireland.

Belfast City Marathon Postponed
Organisers of the Belfast City Marathon have took the decision to postpone the race and following half marathon fixture in light of the coronavirus outbreak. The marathon, originally due to take place on Sunday 03 May, will now be held on Sunday 20 September 2020.

Lord Mayor to run in Belfast City Marathon
The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Martin Morgan, has announced that he will be entering the 23rd Belfast City Marathon. Mr Morgan will be running in the 26-mile May Day challenge, in aid of this year’s official charity, Macmillan Cancer Relief.
