Police Given More Time To Question Man Over Knockloughrim Death

Police have been granted more time to question a man over the death of a woman in Knockloughrim, Co L'Derry.

A woman died in hospital after being found in a burning car outside a house on Quarry Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The man was arrested at the scene.

DUP Mid Ulster MLA Keith Buchanan has urged anyone with information about the death of a lady in Knockloughrim to speak to the police.

Mr Buchanan said: "This is a tragic incident which is being treated as a crime scene. Anyone who can help the police with their inquiries should get in touch.

"People in the area are shocked as more details emerge. This is a quiet rural area with a strong community network where neighbour helps neighbour.

"To have a murder investigation in this area has left people speechless. To those who mourn the loss of a loved one and neighbour, I offer my sincere condolences and assure them of my prayers.”
