Ulster Hospital hit by stomach bug
The Ulster Hospital in Dundonald is at crisis point because of a stomach bug outbreak, it was revealed today.
Around 140 patients and 85 staff have been hit by the strain of gastroenteritis which has also led to the cancelling of almost 60 operations.
Such is the outbreak that the Eastern Health Board has appealed to the general public to stay away from hospital.
However, other Belfast hospitals have also felt the affects of the outbreak. Belfast City Hospital has had to cancel all routine surgery until Friday.
The Eastern Health Board issued the appeal after a meeting on Wednesday involving representatives from all the hospitals and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

Around 65 beds are to go across the Northern Health Trust area as part of planned cuts to services, the trust has said. 44 beds are being axed at Whiteabbey Hospital in Co Antrim. Management said the cuts were "temporary" at a public meeting in Newtownabbey on Thursday, 21 September. The beds could go as early as Novemeber.

Health authorities look for E.coli source at nursery
The Northern Health Board has said it is working towards finding the source of an E.coli 0157 outbreak which has infected nine children at a nursery in Antrim. Laura's Lodge Day Nursery closed voluntarily last Thursday following advice from Environmental Health Officers and the Northern Health Board.
