Carrickfergus Reservoir Murder Victim Named
The victim at the centre of a major murder investigation launched following an incident in the Derrycoole Way area of Rathcoole in Newtownabbey in the early hours of Monday 28 March, has been named as 54-year-old Roy Reynolds.
Major Investigation Team Detectives have been granted a 30 hour extension for the detention of two males, a 68-year-old and a 32-year-old, who were arrested on suspicion of murder after officers stopped a silver vehicle just before 7am in the Clonmore Green area of Newtownabbey.
Appealing for information, Detective Chief Inspector Ray Phelan said: "Just before 6am on Monday morning, local officers received a report of suspicious activity in the Derrycoole Way area of Rathcoole in Newtownabbey.
"Responding officers subsequently located and stopped a silver Toyota C-HR car just before 7am in the Clonmore Green area and arrested the two male occupants.
"The body of Mr Reynolds was discovered in the water close to the Councillors Road/New Line area of Carrickfergus just after 8.45am on Monday morning.
"A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday.
"I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Derrycoole Way in Rathcoole or Councillors Road/New Line area of Carrickfergus from around 2am through to 7am on Monday morning who witnessed anything or anyone with any information that can assist my investigation contact Detectives on 101 quoting reference 244 of 28 March 2022.
"Alternatively information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

A 30-year-old man has sustained burn injuries after boiling water was poured over him in an attack in north Belfast. The victim was walking in the Denmark Street area at around 1.30am on Friday, 12 May. A car with three men stopped beside him and two of the passengers assaulted him.

Teenager attacked and man shot in Newtownabbey area
A 14-year-old boy was badly injured on Sunday after being viciously attacked by three masked men armed with baseball bats embedded with nails. The teenage victim was walking past shops in the loyalist Monkstown Estate in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, when he was set upon and then savagely beaten by the gang.

17-Year-Old Shot In Both Legs
A 17-year-old boy has been shot in both legs in Ballymagroarty in L'Derry. Police said the youth was attacked at about 23:15 on Monday night at a green area behind flats in O'Riada Court. The teenager is being treated in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. An investigation is underway.
