High Court Upholds Casement Park Planning Approval
The High Court has upheld the Casement Park planning approval, rejecting the opposition case brought by the Mooreland and Owenvarragh Residents' Association.
Nicola Mallon, in her role as Infrastructure Minister, had granted planning permission for the third and final project of the Regional Stadia Programme in 2021. The residents group had objected to the size of the development and its impact on the surrounding area.
Welcoming the court ruling to uphold planning approval Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey, who has responsibility for sport, said: "I am pleased with the court's ruling today which means that my department can continue its work at pace to deliver a new stadium at Casement Park.
"I attended the action-packed Ulster Final between Derry and Donegal at St Tiernach's Park, Clones at the weekend and I look forward to Casement Park hosting such sporting finals in the future.
"My Department will continue to engage with the GAA and other stakeholders to get Casement built."
Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd added: "I welcome the decision by Mr Justice Humphreys who has upheld the decision to approve the Casement Park redevelopment. I hope today signals a way forward for Casement Park.
"The redevelopment of this stadium will unlock a brighter future for west Belfast and beyond. It will not only provide the much needed, modern facilities required for Gaelic games in Belfast and for the Ulster GAA family but it will also provide many other economic and social benefits for the local community and local businesses."

New Casement Park Stadium Proposal Approved

As a result the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) will be able to build a new 34,578 capacity stadium on its existing site on the Andersonstown Road.

Antrim Win Eleventh Successive Ulster Hurling Title
Antrim defeated Derry by 18 points yesterday to win their eleventh Ulster Hurling title in a row. After an early lead due to an eighth-minute goal from Conor Carson, Casement Park saw the Saffrons glide to victory with a score of 3-18 to Derry's 0-9.

Casement Park Development Approved
A new stadium at Casement Park in west Belfast has been given the go-ahead. Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín said the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) will now build a new 38,000 capacity stadium on the existing site on the Andersonstown Road.

DUP Opposes Plans To Meet GAA's Shortfall In Casement Park Project
The DUP has opposed plans to allocate additional resources to meet the GAA's shortfall in the Casement Park project. North Down MLA Stephen Dunne said that while he supports the joint Euro 2028 bid, the idea of Casement Park being given a blank cheque with additional public funds needs a "reality check".

Extensive Consultation Process Begins For Casement Park Project
An extensive consultation process has begun for the Casement Park project in west Belfast. In 2014, planning permission for the stadium had been overturned, however after confirming in May that they were working on new plans for the stadium, Ulster GAA has now started a 20-week consultation.
