Police investigate attempted child abduction
Police are appealing for witnesses following the attempted abduction of a nine-year-old boy in Belfast city centre last night.
The boy was walking along Botanic Avenue at around 9pm on Thursday when the incident occurred.
The attacker, who is described as being in his early 30s with short blonde spikey hair, tried to grab the boy's arm, however he managed to escape and raise the alarm.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.

Attempted abduction of child in Armagh
Police in Craigavon have appealed for information relating to the attempted abduction of an eight-year-old boy. The incident occurred at around 6pm yesterday evening, in the Drumbeg area of the town. The man is believed to have tried to entice the boy into his small blue hatchback car, but fled after the boy refused.

Police in County Down have appealed for information following the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old boy earlier in the week. The incident happened at around 7am on Wednesday morning, when the child was waiting at a bus stop on the Ardglass Road in Downpatrick.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a five-year-old boy was hit by a car in Co Down. The crash happened in the Malcolmson Park area in Magheralin just after 4.45pm on Thursday, 12 January. He is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
