DEL jobcentre links up with Irish counterpart

The Department for Employment and Learning's (DEL) JobCentreOnline website as linked up with its Irish counterpart to provide direct access to all vacancies held in the Republic of Ireland.

JobCentreOnline website now provides access to all vacancies held in the Republic by the Employment Service, FAS.

A spokesperson for DEL said the joint initiative with FAS was a milestone for customers north and south of the border.

“DEL, in association with FAS, are pioneers of this innovative facility which makes us the first public bodies in Europe to offer this service," the spokesperson said. "It is a milestone for customers and represents a simple means for jobseekers to access job vacancies in their own area, throughout Northern Ireland, into the Republic of Ireland and ultimately throughout the European Union.

“Customers will be able to view vacancies on the increasingly popular JobCentreOnline site, but will also be able to access the information on JobPoints located in all Jobs and Benefits offices and JobCentres."

Ambrose McLernon of EURES Cross-border Partnership, who assisted in the development, added: “Our Partnership which seeks to remove barriers to cross-border working, has liaised closely with DEL, FAS and the European Commission to achieve the introduction of Webservices. It will undoubtedly assist jobseekers on both sides of the border.”
