X-Files star arrives in NI as shooting begins on new movie
Former X-Files star, Gillian Anderson arrived in Northern Ireland this week to begin work on a new movie.
Principal photography has already begun in and around Belfast on ‘The Mighty Celt’, a story about a 14-year-old boy who adopts an awkward greyhound his boss has no time for, and trains it to become a championship contender.
Anderson, who was once voted the World's Sexiest Woman, stars as 'Kate' the mother of teenager Donal played by newcomer Tyrone McKenna. Award-winning actor Robert Carlyle plays ‘O’, an old family friend who has returned home after 15 years away.
'The Mighty Celt' is written and directed by Pearse Elliott (Treasure Films’ Mad about Dog, Pulling Moves, A Rap At The Door) and produced by Robert Walpole, Paddy McDonald, and Paddy Breathnach.
A production for BBC Films by Treasure Entertainment Production, the film has attracted support from both the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commision, and the Irish Film Board.
