Key Vote Upcoming For Troubles Legacy Bill
The Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Bill is set to be discussed in the Commons again ahead of a vote on potential amendments to the bill.
Peers had backed an amendment to the bill preventing a person from requesting immunity from prosecution as part of any future investigation.
However, due to the Government's majority in the House of Commons, this amendment is expected to be voted down.
Should the amendment be rejected the bill will return to the House of Lords for further deliberation. A lack of space in the parliamentary timetable means that the bill will likely not be discussed again until September.
The DUP and TUV are two parties that have spoken out against the proposals with DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP claiming the bill removes victims' access to justice.
