NIFRS Launches New Recruitment Drive
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has announced the launch of a new recruitment campaign, seeking people with 'commitment, fitness and enthusiasm'.
The recruitment campaign for Wholetime Firefighters working out of Fire Stations across Northern Ireland, begins today, Thursday 28 September, and closes on Friday, 13 October.
NIFRS Area Commander Suzanne Fleming said: "Being a Firefighter is not like any other job – it's fast paced and exciting. It can be tough at times but it's extremely rewarding.
"We respond to challenging incidents including fires, floods, road traffic collisions, chemical spills, rescue incidents, and many other types of emergencies. We make our community safer by aiming to prevent incidents from occurring in the first place. We do this by delivering fire safety advice alongside other community safety initiatives and engagements.
"Firefighters are required to work shifts and on public holidays. They can be stationed anywhere in Northern Ireland. They have to be physically strong and are required to maintain their fitness throughout their career.
"There is a robust and lengthy recruitment process, with many stages. Applicants must be committed to investing a lot of their time to the process. If you have the commitment, the fitness, the enthusiasm and the drive to work as part of a team and help protect our community, you may have what it takes to be a Firefighter. I would encourage you to apply now to climb a different kind of career ladder."

DAERA Minister Confirms Commitment to Deposit Return Scheme
DAERA Minister Andrew Muir has reaffirmed his commitment to introducing a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) in Northern Ireland. The DRS is designed to encourage recycling by offering a monetary incentive for returning single-use drinks containers. The scheme will cover PET plastic, steel, and aluminium containers ranging from 150ml to 3 litres.
