Murder Investigation Launched Into West Belfast Shooting
A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting incident in west Belfast.
Emergency services responded to reports of a shooting in the Greenan area just before 9:30 pm. The victim was treated by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who has any information to call 101 and quote reference number 1714 of 09/01/24.
Information can also be done with 100% anonymity via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
A large scale police operation is ongoing at the scene.

Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.

A 22-year-old man will appear before Dungannon Magistrates' Court charged in connection with a shooting incident in Co L'Derry. On Friday 09 March, 2018, a man was found in a car on the Cairndaisy Road with a gunshot wound to his head. He is continuing to be treated for his injury.

A man was shot in the leg at Creeslough Gardens at around 21:30 on Wednesday night. It is understood that victim is in his 40s and his injuries are not life threatening.

Renewed Appeal For Information On Shooting Death In Newry
The PSNI has named the man shot dead in Newry on Thursday 01 December as 58-year-old Mark Lovell. Mr Lovell was shot a number of times, at close range, whilst inside his car near his home in Ardcarn Park just after 6pm.
