Armagh man injured in 'barbaric' attack

Police are treating a savage assault on a man in Co Armagh as attempted murder.

The 45-year-old victim had just dropped his children off at Annaghmore Primary School in the Kiltybane area of Cullyhanna on Thursday morning when he was abducted and bundled into a passing car.

He was found a short time later lying beside a burnt out car on the Sheetrim Road, approximately three miles away. The man, who is said to be in a critical condition in hospital, had been severely beaten with nail studded clubs. He had multiple injuries to his face and body - both his legs and arms were broken during the assault.

Detectives, who have described the assault as “barbaric”, have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 028 3065 5000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
