Men Sentenced For Ballymena Drug And Money Laundering Operation

Three men were sentenced for offences linked to a drugs and money laundering operation in the Ballymena area yesterday, 31 January.

At Antrim Crown Court, Troy Carley (27), Neil Lowry (30) and Marc Mitchell (32) were sentenced for a number of offences.

Carley was convicted in relation to being concerned in Supply of Class B Drug and was given a 10 months custodial sentence with a further 10 months on license after his release.

Lowry was fined £400 in relation to possession of cannabis.

Mitchell who had already plead guilty, was sentenced to a 10 month custodial sentence suspended for three years after being complicit in the criminal enterprise acting as a 'money mule'.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said: "This investigation relates to a sum of money being seized at Belfast International Airport in 2019. Nearly £35,000 was recovered from Mitchell, which commenced a large scale proactive policing operation linked to both drugs and money-laundering in the Ballymena area. Both Carley and Lowry were subsequently arrested for related offences following further enquiries and all three were charged to court.

"We continue to tackle all types of criminality impacting the local community and would encourage anyone with any information in relation to criminal activity, to contact police."

Man Jailed For Money Lending And Drug Dealing
A 46-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months for money lending and drug dealing, to serve nine months in custody and nine months on license. Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) welcomed the sentence handed down to Thomas Porter at Antrim Crown Court today, Thursday 5 May.

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.

Three Arrested In Connection With £250,000 Drug Seizure
