NI Civil Service Launches New Neurodiversity Toolkt
As part of Autism Awareness Month, the Civil Service has announced the launch of a new Neurodiversity Line Manager's Toolkit.
As an equal opportunities employer the Civil Service has said that it is committed to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces supporting and promoting neurodiversity in the workplace is a key part of their commitment.
Neurodivergent colleagues are an important part of the Civil Service workforce and bring a wide range of valuable skills and talents to the workplace. The new Toolkit will help embed a neuro-inclusive workplace culture and support the commitment made by the Civil Service as an employer under the Department of Health's Autism Strategy (2023-2028).
In launching the toolkit, Finance Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald, whose department has responsibility for the Civil Service workforce including its people polices and terms and conditions, said: "I welcome the launch of this new resource during Autism Awareness Month. The Civil Service is committed to creating workplaces where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and feels able to participate and reach their full potential. The toolkit is a positive step in embedding an inclusive workplace culture where alternative thinking styles are embraced and celebrated."

'No Bonuses' For Public Sector Bosses
Senior Northern Ireland civil servants will not receive bonuses this year, The Stormont Finance Minister Sammy Wilson has said. Mr Wilson said he had considered all "relevant factors" - including public debate over public sector pay - and decided to cut the award scheme to top level workers.

SDLP 'Not Planning' For Job Losses
There's been an angry reaction to news of expected job losses within the Planning Service. After the news that the construction downturn has left the jobs in jeopardy was revealed at the weekend, SDLP Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Tommy Gallagher has reacted angrily to the news that cut backs may well leave more local people unemployed.

DOE Moves Into Ebrington Barracks
The former Ebrington barracks site in L'Derry has become the new headquarters for Environment Minister Mark H Durkan and staff. Ebrington was first first designated for military use during the Siege of Derry in 1689, but will now house the Minister along with DOE Planning Chief Fiona McCandless. The new regional HQ will accommodate 25 people.
