Non-Emergency Police Reports To Require Email Address
The PSNI has announced that from Wednesday, 01 May, anyone reporting a non-emergency incident will be asked to provide an email address.
Currently there is a system in place where automated email responses are provided in all online reports made to the PSNI. This means that the reporting person or victim receives the reference number and the name of the Investigating Officer to do with their report. This is as a result of the reporting person entering their email address to their report.
This automated response is now expanding to provide this information to the reporting person or victim for all non-emergency incidents regardless of their source, whether that be from a phone call, reporting in person or reporting online.
Superintendent Phil Prendergast of Justice Operations said: "Whilst it is not compulsory to provide an email address when reporting a non-emergency incident we would highly recommend you do so moving forward.
"This will help ensure that we improve our response and communication with victims, something which will help us to meet our obligations under the Victim Charter and ultimately deliver a better service to the public."

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.

Campaign To Address Emergency Dept Missing Person Reports
The PSNI and Health & Social Care Board (HSCB) have launched a joint campaign to reduce the number of patients being reported missing from Emergency Departments (ED). The awareness campaign aims to stop patients from leaving the ED without telling a member of ED staff. The initiative will run across all emergency departments.

'Viable Pipe Bomb' At Centre Of Antrim Rd Security Alert
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a security alert on the Antrim Road in north Belfast. Emergency services responded to reports of a suspicious object shortly before 6pm last night, Thursday 11 May. Ammunition Technical Officers were called to the scene to examine the device, which was discovered to be a viable pipe bomb.

Temporary Shelter Removed By Council
An emergency sleeping shelter installed in the city centre has been removed by Belfast City Council. The box appeared on open ground in Victoria Street at the weekend, offering a temporary shelter for a homeless person, complete with a solar powered phone charger and radio.
