PSNI Welcomes 'Positive' Crime Data Inspection Report
PSNI Assistant Chief Officer, Aldrina Magwood, has welcomed the positive findings of His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) report.
HMICFRS has published its review of its inspection of crime data integrity of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Speaking about this report, ACO Magwood said: "We welcome this positive report grading our performance as good in crime recording. This is very encouraging as determined efforts are made by officers and staff to maintain high-quality crime data.
"This is important for Keeping People Safe as this information builds a picture of where, when and how often crime is happening. This helps us to signpost victims to appropriate support services and when planning where to use our resources to best effect in investigations.
"The Inspector states he is pleased with the Police Service's recording of reported crime and notes that the service has maintained the high standards found since the last inspection of crime-data integrity in 2015. This extends to the well-established processes for crime recording and the application of relevant training for officers and staff involved in this work.
"We acknowledge that there are areas for improvement, and will now consider how we take forward the recommendations made by the Inspector.
"It is vital that people continue to tell us about crime when they see or experience it. We would encourage anyone who has been a victim of crime or has information about crime to report it to us.
"Our priority remains – to deliver a visible, accessible and responsive community-focused policing service to keep people safe."

Crimestoppers Praised By Justice Minister
Almost £117,000 worth of drugs have been seized, 76 people arrested and charged and 2,400 pieces of actionable information passed to the PSNI between April 2012 and March 2013 as a result of the charity Crimestoppers, according to Justice Minister David Ford.

PSNI and victims group team up to tackle car crime
The PSNI's Auto Crime Team and Families Bereaved Through Car Crime have joined forces in an effort to reduce car crime in west Belfast and Dunmurry. Starting today, leaflets promoting the Auto Crime Hotline will be delivered to 35,000 homes in the area.

NI Lorry Driver Jailed In Connection With £3m Drug Seizure
A 38-year-old man has been jailed in connection with the largest single drug seizure by the PSNI. At Belfast Crown Court, Andrew Stafford pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.
