NI textile industry hit by further job cuts

Northern Ireland's textile industry was dealt a further blow today when hosiery firm, Adria, announced it is to make 58 workers redundant.

The company, which employs 870 people at its plants in Strabane and Campsie, said it was forced to take the decision in order to reduce overheads and protect the competitiveness of the business.

Management and union representatives are meeting to discuss the job losses which were announced on Friday morning.

Today's decision by the firm follows last year's redundancies by the company which saw 55 workers lose their jobs.
