Woman injured as gang attack Newtownards house

Detectives in Newtownards have appealed for information after a house was attacked late last night, July 15.

At around 11.45pm, several men wielding baseball bats, stones and a hammer smashed the windows at the front of a house on Trasnagh Drive. Three women were in the living room of the house at the time and one received minor cuts.

It is understood that the men fled the scene in two cars, and police are investigating a motive for the attack.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the cars on Trasnagh Drive or Windsor Avenue is asked to contact police on 91818080 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Man Shot In Both Legs In L'Derry
A man in his 30s has been shot several times in the legs in Co L'Derry. The shooting attack happened in the Rinmore Drive area at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, 09 August. The victim was shot in each ankle and once in the thigh. He is currently being treated in hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The popular festival of hot Americana, ChilliFest, has announced it will be back in Custom House Square, Belfast for 2011. Taking place under a (hopefully) blazing June sun from 25 June - 26 June, the festival is part of the annual Open House Festival in the city Belfast.

Belfast Hotel Plan Dropped: Report
A government-supported plan to build a hotel in central Belfast has been scrapped, the BBC has reported. Back in 2007, the Department for Social Development appointed Tullymore House Ltd as preferred developer for Armagh House in the city’s Ormeau Avenue, with plans to convert the building into an upmarket hotel.
