Major Redevelopment Planned For CAFRE Greenmount Campus

The CAFRE Greenmount Campus, renowned for its commitment to agricultural education and sustainable practices, is poised for a transformative redevelopment that promises to usher in a new era of modernised facilities, innovative learning spaces and eco-friendly energy solutions. This project will revitalise the 3.7-hectare section within Greenmount's 18-hectare campus, blending contemporary architecture with the site's storied landscape and heritage buildings.

Central to the redevelopment will be the demolition of several aging structures, including Fulton Hall, Boyd Hall, the Technology Building, and modular student accommodations. In their place, the campus will gain purpose-built facilities designed to enhance both student and staff experiences. The new additions will feature updated accommodation options, state-of-the-art teaching spaces, a conference centre, and modernized staff offices. These facilities will integrate seamlessly into the scenic campus, which boasts Grade B1 listed buildings such as the Manor House and Principal’s Lodge, preserving the charm and history of the area.

Plans for the redevelopment also highlight thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces, including communal courtyards, gardens, and barbecue areas. As part of a strong commitment to sustainability, the project will incorporate renewable energy solutions aimed at significantly reducing the campus's carbon footprint.

Scheduled for completion in three phases, the redevelopment will be structured to minimize disruptions to the campus's operations, allowing current students and staff to continue their activities with minimal impact.

With this redevelopment, CAFRE Greenmount Campus looks set to blend tradition with innovation, positioning itself as a leading institution for sustainable education in Northern Ireland.
