Man has gun held to head following litter complaint

Police are investigating reports that a man had a gun held to his head after challenging a teenager about dropping litter in Co Londonderry.

The man was walking along Woodburn Park in Kilfennan at around 7.30pm on Monday when he confronted a teenager who had dropped litter on the ground.

The teenager, along with another friend, then became abusive towards the man before pulling a handgun from his pocket and holding it to the man's head. Police say it is not clear whether the gun used was real or an imitation firearm.

One of the teenagers is described as being slim and pale wearing pale combat trousers, a beige fleece, a light hat and round gold-rimmed glasses.

The second youth was about 5ft 6in tall, also of slim build, with spiked dirty fair hair.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 028 7136 7377 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
