Extradition proceedings concluded on Wednesday, 2nd April, leading to his return to Northern Ireland. He was the subject of an investigation by the Police Service of Northern Ireland's (PSNI) Legacy Investigation Branch and is sought to stand trial for murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life, and belonging to a proscribed organisation.

The 67-year-old is scheduled to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court later today.
