Man Charged In Connection With Danny McClean Murder
A 50-year-old man arrested in north Belfast on Tuesday has been charged with the attempted murder of a man in the Bell Steel Manor area of west Belfast and the murder of Danny McClean.
The man is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court later today, Thursday 15th May, in connection with both charges. He has also been charged with a number of firearms offences relating to both incidents. The arrest and subsequent charges follow investigations into the attempted murder in the Bell Steel Manor area on Sunday, 23rd February [2025], and the murder of Danny McClean on 2nd February 2021.
Police also confirmed that the man had been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Jim Donegan but has been released unconditionally in relation to that investigation.
As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The PSNI's Major Investigation Team arrested the suspect under the Terrorism Act in north Belfast on Wednesday, 14 April. Mr McClean, aged 54, was murdered 2 February this year. The man has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite to be questioned.

A man charged with attempted murder has died in custody. 42-year-old James Carlisle, from the Harbour Road in Kilkeel, was due to appear in court next week. It is understood his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Armagh man accused of attempted murder
